I haven’t really seen a lot of people do a metric variation of free verse poetry as short as this, and it’s wonderful!! I might just have to go write some myself :)

It’s raw and unsettling in the best way. The contrast between the girl and the woman is clear and brutal, and the images are sharp without being overdone. It feels intimate, honest, and hard to forget.

Loved it, Rachel! Realising that who you’ve become might’ve scared your younger self is such a difficult thing to sit with, not because we did anything wrong. It’s just that growing up changes us in ways we couldn’t have imagined, and you paint it so well with the monster underneath the bed<3
