this is so dreamy 💚 it feels like a poem that's always existed and has been discovered rather than written, there's something so...ancient feeling about it like it speaks to something seeped in folklore and history

this is such a heartwarming compliment, you're gonna make me cry!! i definitely wanted readers to feel as if the forest woman has existed for centuries-- a folklore myth almost. i'm so glad that you picked that up and that you enjoyed!! ໒꒱

yes i enjoyed it very much <3

i’m always astounded by poets! writing is hard enough when you’re just articulating thoughts, but bending and twisting words like this is a gift. this was beautiful and spooky! i loved every second of it🫶🏼

unwilling to be left,

still yearning to last!!! Loved this

Thank you!! I was originally debating if I should delete the "unwilling to be left" line because I thought it was the same as "still yearning to last." However, I thankfully recognized that they are both very different concepts, but still go hand-in-hand together! I'm so glad you connected with this piece ໒꒱

I felt like if I read this poem the second time she would tap at my bedroom window. That was awesome, Rachel!

There are very few things I love more than an eerie poem with a plethora of interpretations to be drawn from it. I love this, Rachael!

Rachael Diane ໒꒱'s avatar

“errie” and “plethora of interpretations” are my middle name!! or at least i wish that that they were. point is, that’s exactly what i try to go for my most of my poems so thank you!! this means everything🥹

I’m really looking forward to checking out your other works as well! And yes, could not have said it better myself. Our forest women really do haunt us, whether we notice or not. Thank you for reading :)

BEAUTIFUL 😭😭 would love a bonus explanation with what you wrote it about. I know a lot of people prefer to remain ambiguous but I love answers

Rachael Diane ໒꒱'s avatar

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! there’s definitely a lot of room for interpretation, but think of it as the worst parts of yourself and your worst memories haunting you

I love that! I read it as someone watching you while you're aware of it, malicious or just checking in. I love your writing style so much it absolutely threads the needle of being descriptive without reading like every word was ran through thesaurus.com (also I personally love poetry that doesn't rhyme)

Rachael Diane ໒꒱'s avatar

That is an excellent interpretation! Poetry is never meant to have a single meaning or message ໒꒱ Your compliments are everything!! I've also never been a fan of poetry that directly rhymes either, I always prefer a melodic tone. Thank you so much for appreciating my work, it truly means a lot! :)
